Installation
Download the CrownOS ISO, write it to a USB drive and install the desktop.
The installer configures and boots to a working desktop in under five minutes. You need a 64-bit PC, a USB drive and an internet connection.
Install
Download the ISO
Get the latest beta image from the crownos-iso releases page.
Write it to a USB drive
Find your drive with
lsblk, then write the image. Replace/dev/sdXwith the whole drive, not a partition.sudo dd if=crownos.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M status=progress oflag=syncUse a graphical image writer such as balenaEtcher or Rufus and select the downloaded ISO.
Boot from the drive
Restart, open your firmware's boot menu and choose the USB drive. If the drive is not listed, you may need to turn off Secure Boot in the firmware settings.
Run the installer
Pick a disk, a user name and a password. The installer partitions the disk, installs the packages and reboots into CrownOS.
After installing
Bring the system up to date before you start, since the ISO may be older than the repositories.
